My budgies nails are too long and im not too keen on cutting them myself, what other options are there for him to shorten them??

Hi there isn't anything difficult about cutting nails. Look at the nail & you will see the blood

vessel running through it. Cut the nail 4 or 5 cm bellow the vessel. To keep them short

you can buy a sandpaper covered perch. Fit it by the food vessel so the bird is not on

it for long periods. It can cause foot problems if used as a favourite perch......B.J.

If you take your bird to Moe Veterinary Clinic on Lloyd Street they will be able to trim them for a nominal fee. The process of trimming birds toe nails is not particularly difficult if you are carefull and make sure you do not cut back to the blood vein. There are numerous internet sites with instructions that will walk you through the process step by step. Good luck.

thank you all for your help ill trim them myself, ive cut my dogs before so is the same procedure, dont cut the blood vein.

do NOT buy a sandpaper covered perch...they are responsible for foot issues like bumblefoot and foot infections
