Boy Or Girl?

What do you think about this little cutie - most days I think boy, but sometimes the light makes me think girl... I seem to be having issues telling the sexes this year

See that's why I'm confused, as a featherless chick I thought girl...

hmmm seems to have a little white around her nostrils so I would say girl

The cere appears bright pink in the photos which would indicate male. If it was a female there would be an overall whitish look ( not just nostrils but overall white ) .

As photos can be deceptive...what colour are you seeing ?

Also what are the parents and can we have a photo of the back of this chick ?

Parents are just as far as I can tell (not sure of their parent's genetics as these are birds I have bought;

Dad: skyblue yellowface type 1 (the wings appear normal, though have a sheen that makes me think possibly split opaline...)

Mum: dominant skyblue pied (crested).

The colour I am seeing for the most part is purple, but its cere was a bit bulgy when it was a baby and in some light, I think there is quite a lot of white around the nostrils. These are the only other pics I have at the moment...

Ignore EVERYTHING anyone has ever said about white around nostrils..........it leads so many people astray looking for white around nostrils when that nostril thing is so inaccurate its not funny.

A baby hen has an overall white over her cere not just nostrils.

What I am seeing is a boy :D

Thanks Kaz! Yeah it was a combination of things that were making me wonder (nostril size too) but overall it _is_ purple. I don't know why I've had trouble telling lately, normally I get it right from 1-2 weeks old.

from the last pictures i agree it looks like a little boy especially that very last picture

he is very cute

Now budgie is about 4 months old I can tell for sure... turns out, he is a she afterall!!! Thankfully a playful and not bitey she :D

Sorry guys as Sarah stated above it's a she !!!

I know I'm chiming in late, but it just goes to show that there are some baby budgies whose ceres keep everyone guessing, even the experts. It's those middle of the road ones that stump me, too, and I've had them end up going in both directions.

Nice thing that hens will eventually turn brown, and remove all doubt. :D

im thinking a boy because the middle is blue.

Sorry, roseydoo, SarahC has already stated that it turned out to be a hen once it grew up more. :)

She is definitely a she :) My friend went away for a week and I got to look after her, such a beautiful girl she is :)

Why is everyone guessing after the answer has been given ?? LOL
