Posted May 5, 201213 yr Hi to all. I just came across this forum and I think its great reading so far. Geez I thought I new a little bit about them but reading on here I have a lot to learn . I have had budgies on and off for over 25 years. I just love to sit and watch them its almost addictive. I have been breeding them and got some new birds (magic colors) in last week and I dont know how the door got opened but my dog got in there somehow during the night a couple of nights ago and I lost many of them including the mates of my breeding stock, I WAS ABSOLUTELY DEVASTATED! lost most of the new ones and now dont have any paired. Today I went a bought some new ones and some great colors so I'm now starting from scratch again. I'm in the hunt for a better aviary at the moment. Looking forward to being a part of this forum. Thanks Steve
May 5, 201213 yr Hi Welcome to the bbc, sorry you lost your birds, do you still have a dog? l.o.l. It's just a big learning curve I think, just when you think your starting to get it sorted, something you haven't had before crops up. Good luck with new birds. Don't forget about quarantine though.
May 7, 201213 yr Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. I'm SO sorry for your loss of birds. How heartbreaking and frustrating! I agree with you, they are definitely addictive.
May 9, 201213 yr Author Thanks Robyn and Finnie, Yeah I was devastated and yes dog is still with us (not my choice) but lets just say it has'nt come near me since it happened. I dont have any paired up ones at the moment but have begun deviding them and am hopefull. Quarantine, I never even thought of that side of it. They all look healthy enough. Fingers crossed!
May 10, 201213 yr Gee, even if they look healthy if you didn't quarantine new ones, I think I would give them ALL old and new, a drop of Ivomectin to be on the safe side. If there is any unseen problem it may help.
May 21, 201212 yr Author Sorry have'nt had the chance to get on here. Thanks Robyn I will look at getting some. Thanks birdluv
