Posted April 26, 201213 yr Hello - here are my two cresteds. I am pretty certain that they are male, but would just like some more experienced opinions The yellow faced's cere is very blue but the pied has only a small amount of blue. Any comments appreciated. Thank you. http://i1157.photobu...sandfriendr.jpg http://i1157.photobu...visfrontonr.jpg
April 26, 201213 yr I'd tentatively say two males. Definitely the yellowface is one, not sure about the Recessive Pied.
April 26, 201213 yr I am sorry Jen.........the pied is not recessive but dominant pied. Pretty obvious considering it has iris rings as well as telling by body and head markings Both boys too and your crested are very nice Dibba Edited April 26, 201213 yr by **KAZ**
April 26, 201213 yr Hello Dibba, must agree, nice crests and both male. Who's blood line are they? If you wish to learn more about breeding them, do a google search for George Clarke's PE theory. It is the most current theory with the most accurate outcomes so far. Still has a few holes in it but closest to actual results over a large number of pairings at the moment.
April 26, 201213 yr LOL my apologies Kaz, I must have missed that...can't believe I did! I'm still leaning towards male for the Dominant Pied, but it's that difference of colour (as opposed to the other) that has me doubting..
April 27, 201213 yr Author The dominant pied looks female to me Hi Neville, Thanks for your response. Can I ask what makes you think the pied might be female? (I really don't mind either way!) Regards, Di
April 27, 201213 yr I say 2 boys, my dom pied boy has a cere like that, he never has much blue on it ever, most of his cere looks a pinky colour
April 27, 201213 yr The dominant pied looks female to me Hi Neville, Thanks for your response. Can I ask what makes you think the pied might be female? (I really don't mind either way!) Regards, Di The cere looks pale blue and white like a hen that is out of condition. The shade of blue is not the same as a male's cere A dominant pied male would have a dark blue cere the same as a normal male

April 28, 201213 yr I think they are both males...............the male with the paler blue cere just isnt in condition. His cere would look different if a female despite females who arent in breeding condition having a white/blue cere I feel this isnt the case here. This is the white blue of a hen not in breeding condition however some clarification can be made here if you take new photos not with a flash
April 29, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the input everyone. He certainly doesn't look like the blue hen that you posted Kaz, but I will try to get some better pics. It doesn't help that I'm the world's worst photographer
