Exploding Infrared Heatlamp

Featured Replies

Our budgies infrared heatlamp just broke, exploded above their cage. Is that dangerous to them? We are Opening up the window here, in case... But would like to know.

First thing to do is to remove it...

Any exploded electrical equipment is a danger to any pet...

If you are planning to salvage or repair the lamp, I would suggest bring it to a qualified tech...

for them to better see if what part exactly exploded...

Or better replace it with new one...

by the way, what are you using it for???

I mean are they for winter or incubating youngs???

I removed the lamp right away of course. :) What i dont know thou is if there is some gas inside the infrared lamps that could harm them. We bought a couple of new heating lamps today. A couple of my budgies need heating as they have health issues at the moment. :(

there are none...

but its always safe to exhaust it completely, knowing even safe gases if burn can be toxic...
