Posted April 6, 201213 yr I was given this budgie, Im thinking its recessive pied ? also is it a clearwing ? thanks
April 9, 201213 yr Except for the white in the cheek patches, which suggest spangle, I would say cinnamon recessive pied. The flight feathers don't appear to be clear like a dominant pied's flights Edited April 9, 201213 yr by Neville
April 9, 201213 yr Author okay, .. so what does that mean ? who do i believe lol.. Do you want more pictures ? Edited April 9, 201213 yr by Budboy
April 9, 201213 yr Another vote for Recessive Pied. Nev, what makes you say Cinnamon? I would have said possibly FBC Greywing, as her markings are grey and her colour doesn't appear to be less?
April 9, 201213 yr BUDBOY...........go check the bird for presence of iris rings or not. That will settle the debate one way or another. Nev, what makes you say Cinnamon? I would have said possibly FBC Greywing, as her markings are grey and her colour doesn't appear to be less? I agree
April 9, 201213 yr Author from what i can tell no iris rings Had a hawke try and eat my budgies today .. Edited April 9, 201213 yr by Budboy
April 9, 201213 yr Definitely Recessive Pied. See no iris rings, and in fact her eyes appear to be a plum-red colour (since I'm assuming you used the flash on your camera) which is actually the eye colour Recessive Pieds can have when they are hatched as babies.
April 9, 201213 yr Author Yes i used the flash what was decided about the markings ? Spangle or greywing ?
April 11, 201213 yr Interesting, the new photos with flash make the cere look pink, not brown. Could it be a male after all? I think it's a recessive pied full body greywing or clearwing, but not a spangle. (Well, I take that back, I'm not sure about spangle. That first photo isn't the best, and the new ones the flash washes the markings out completely.)
