Posted April 5, 201213 yr Hoping someone has some info about why my budgie Bobby is not digesting his seed properly. For some weeks Bobby has been "fluffed" up during the day but still quite chirpy, so I didn't worry too much. Now his poops are not quite right. They're full of non digested seed. So now he's fluffed up and pooping seed. I took him to the vet on Monday and was given Psittavet Powder to add to his water (half teaspoon to 200ml). Today (Thursday) I took Bobby back to the vet as there has been no improvement and I'm sure he's not drinking his water as it looks and tastes different. The vet (a different one at the same clinic) examined his poops under the microscope and said there was bacteria in his poop and has prescribed Enrotri 0.05ml orally once a day. Both vets have said that they feel Bobby is a little on the thin side after feeling his belly. What Bobby has been up to in the last few months.... Jan - moved from Tassie to Vic March - moved from Vic to Tassie Both trips across the Bass Strait were via car on the Ferry. Bobby is an indoor bird who is let out of his cage each night where he spends the majority of his time running around the floor playing with his favourite jingle balls. He is happy to pop in and out of his cage as he pleases. Bobby's diet - Trill seed with vegetable grains. Shell grit. Millet sprays. Water. I've noticed in the last couple of months he sleeps a lot more than he used to. Bobby turned 6 on the 5th of Feb, he as one day out of the nest when I brought him home. Appreciate any feedback. Cheer, Rita. Some images of Bobby's poops from today..... Edited April 6, 201213 yr by **KAZ** fixed photo links
April 5, 201213 yr Hi Bobbie B. In f.a.q. there are a couple of items about undigested seed, could be serious problem, I don't know if the meds your vet gave you covers them. Others may know. If they checked and found bacteria in poop. maybe they are on to it. Good luck with him keep posting to see how he goes.

April 10, 201213 yr Author No grit at all? also please remove any grit...Bobby doesnt need it. Day 6 on Enrotri and Bobby has picked up considerably. He's back to his usual, talking, playful, attention seeking self! His poops have improved, but still not back to normal, still contain seeds but nothing like the above images. He's even not sleeping as much, so fingers crossed he's on the road to recovery.
