oh no we were hoping to breed from her. The kids fell in love with her and the lady at the shop said she was not sure but thought she might be a little girl

Does this photo make is any easier

edited GIRK into GIRL

it is a hard one to say, seeing as the bird is a recessive pied a male of that type should have a bright pink cere that doesn't change. Make you think this bird could be a girl

did the lady give you an age?

I don't see any head bars so I would think one moult would have already happened giving an age between 3-6 months at least.

It seems you used the flash on your camera. Try taking a natural daylight photo...no flash

I'd say male. A Recessive Pied, and that is why his cere is not completely blue.

not to confuse the issue, do the cheek patch's look a bit spangle as well?

please take another photo.

yeah I would like another picture.

Robyn - pied's have cheek patches like that as well, due to the pied gene affecting those feathers.

Okay here are a collection of photos taken today in natural light no flash . Last two photos are same as ones already uploaded yesterday and taken with a flash.

Now can you please load individual photos not the artistic collage ones that are too small

I would like better pictures, too. But from what I can see so far, the cere looks to be blue and white, not pink and white, so I'm going to lean towards girl. Unless you tell me that the bottom half is actually a lavender pink, and not blue. :)

starting to look a bit girly now...keep your fingers crossed :)
