The number of English budgies in Korea is small.

 

The birds in the picture above are the ones imported from an Italian breeder recently, which are of the best quality ever seen in Korea.

 

They say it cost 400 US dollars per head including the customs, shipping and so on.

 

However, we still don't have such ones of high quality as seen in the pictures below.

Breeders in Europe say they are worth 2000-4000 Euro.

 

I wonder how much they are in Australia.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The above birds are readily available in Australia and would be much cheaper here as there are lots of birds like that here or better birds...

 

 

The below birds would certainly go for many thousands here in Australia as we are not up to that standard yet.....

My opinion is meaningless, as I am not an exhibition breeder, but I think the top set of birds are extremely nice, and the bottom set are grossly exaggerated. Not attractive. Maybe the Australians should consider themselves lucky that they haven't yet achieved such a standard.

 

Okay, rereading that, it sounds a little inflammatory. What I meant was that I think the photos of the top Australian birds you guys post on here are already quite nice, and don't need to become over-exaggerated. I'm shutting up now.

I agree with twisted, those birds would not be expensive maybe $20-30 for the grey and a bit more for the Lutino.

I agree with you also Finnie.. But the reality is that Australia are already heading towards the look of the bottom birds.... ( Buffalo look )... I have seen different photo's of the 2 bottom birds which belong to Les martin of the UK, and they don't look as bad or as good.. ( depending on how you view them ).. As they look in these pictures..

The show birds in New Zealand are probably similar to the Australian ones but I think that there are quite a few that have gone too far

i agree with finnie to and you dont have to be an exhibition breeder to think they are a bit over board LOL

 

Those bottom budgies are insane but they look pretty cool i just think a bit to much of the fro happening haha

I also agree with Finnie, top bunch lovely, bottom lot wouldn't have them myself. A budgerigar should still look like a budgerigar, granted a bit larger than natives are lovely but not over- mutated, if that's the word.

To each there own I guess. I understand what people say about the buffalo style bird but I guess if it wasn't liked by enough people it wouldn't be what exhibition breeders were trying so hard to achieve. Ultimately the goal is to get a well balanced bird rather than a small bird with a big head.
