Posted December 1, 201113 yr I have this lovely chap who I assume is a TCB. I have no idea what to pair him with. I'm not necessarily fixated on producing lots of TCBs - I like variety in my babies. I have no idea what he might be split for. The hens I have are: Skyblue opaline cinnamon dominant pied / recessive pied Green series lacewing Goldenface skyblue violet opaline cinnamon Cobalt spangled Goldenface skyblue opaline Any ideas? (Sorry about the sideways picture. Photobucket issues )
December 1, 201113 yr You are better off trying to keep texas clearbodies pure, and bredding then with inos (albino and lutinos) and good quality normals, because to have a cock you will get TCB hens when paired to a normal. Try and keep cinnamon out of them because it fades their beautiful colour. here is a table any way I hope this helps. December 1, 201113 yr Author Thanks Splat. I don't show, only breed for my own pleasure, but I don't want to be messing up a mutation by adding other mutations that aren't complementary either. So would a nice normal green hen do the trick?
December 1, 201113 yr Yes that would be great, is up to you, meaning you can do what you like but it is better to keep them pure. I have been breeding them for a couple of years now and i am having trouble with suffusion because so far I have put my clear body with a normal hen and this year I put his daughter with another clearbody and I have been told to put the with ino to improve the suffusion but then I find they go small, can't win. December 1, 201113 yr thats a fallow sorry to say well looks like one is its eyes pink cause it looks more like a fallow to me ?? Edited December 1, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
December 1, 201113 yr Author I don't think he's a fallow. Eyes are black as far as I can see, in the photos and in person, and the markings on his wings are black shading to grey. This is the only red-eyed bird I have:
December 1, 201113 yr He is different that my clearbodies but mine are opaline, I really don't know much about Fallows. Edited December 1, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
December 1, 201113 yr he looks TCB to me. and I've an idea - ship him to me i would lean towards using the Goldenface skyblue opaline. you can find out if he is slpit blue, and if so then get a mix of blue, greens and yellowfaces. the sons will have Opaline and tcb gene to use with others to get a nice mix. EDIT- 2nd thoughts these two hens could be good too: Green series lacewing - inos could appear if he is split for ino (tcb is a par ino gene). Goldenface skyblue violet opaline cinnamon - same as the other yellowface above but split cinnamons sons as well. . Edited December 1, 201113 yr by *Nerwen*
December 1, 201113 yr Author Hehe Nerwen, I could drop him off to you if I were so inclined (which I'm not, I really like him!). I don't know how long it will take me to find a green I'm happy with, so I'm considering the cobalt spangled hen. She's a nice chunky hen who shouldn't be carrying any surprises, and I'll be able to see which babies are spangled so there won't be anything extra lurking in the genes for future generations.
December 1, 201113 yr okay my bad he also looks cinnamon on my screen so ??? id put him to a big shouldered hen with the right direction feather regardless of feather height on her head hes lovley what ever he is put him to a normal hen as nothing can be carryed then bar if it comes from him so you will know if hes split ..... what ever no suprizes down line then
