Cysts And Removal

Featured Replies

Well theres a breeder down the road who has a magnificent hen with a massive red swelling lump on her bum, like eggbinding only larger, apparently a cyst which i believe is correct, he is going to ring her neck because he has tried to fix it, how could i help her?

Please tell me as much as you can!

Thanks

Since you posted this in the health forum, if you looked in there you would have seen a whole topic on feather cysts.

HOWEVER, the cyst that hen has is one that doesnt have a good outcome. Despite your need to save this hen she is most likely better off being euthanased. the location of the cyst makes it very likely she has a tumour.

Couldn't she have a budgie operation??? or would that be too dangerous?

It is a money problem Flipper it would cost hundreds of dollars and she is a $50 dollar hen and it would probably kill her........

Yes it is probably a tumor as it is quite large, euthanizing her may be the better option.................

It sounds more like a tumor to me.
