Hi everyone! I'm new here and im very worried about my budgie..

I already saw this: " http://forums.budgie...showtopic=30675" , but the thing is that my baby budgie is a little younger 2.5 weeks, doesnt even has alot of feathers on its head.

it doesnt cry for food and I heard it eats at least 3 times per day so...

I got it yesterday and I force feed him 2 times, each time about 2ml of formula

Its heart breaking how he hates the serynge. I'm scared it may choke! but im very careful.. i feed him from his right side of the beak small amouts at time, worm and not too liquid or too solid.

should I put seeds around him? or is he too young or something?

Please aid me! I dont want it to die =S! LOVE IT!!!

Never tought it would be so blo** hard to fed!

(Tomorrow with day light I'll show a photo of him on his habitat)

I dont completely understand is this one you bought or bred, are you trying to hand raise it or arent't the parents feeding it and i wouldn't use a syringe i would use a bent tea spoon when i say bent i mean get pliers or something and squeeze the sides together and make sure the bottom is a bit smaller and shape it like a v the wide bit at top and dont squeeze it to much just give the sides of the edges 1cm room inbetween and the bottom has to be about 5mm, simpily get the syringe and squirt a small amount of food into the center of the bent spoon and as he eats it add more, hope this helps and act fast

Oh he can be trialed with seed just leave it in the bottom of the nest box and change it every 3 days that is important, dont just give him seed though or he will most defiently die

Best of luck, Corey

How come you are trying to feed a 2.5 wks old with no experience...were you sold this baby ? Who would sell you a baby this young ?

I am just wondering why he was taken away from his parents at such a young age, wouldn't it have been a good idea for the parents to raise him or can't they for some reason, or are you trying to hand raise a bird from an early age for a tame pet.

Poor budgie, why dont you buy a hand tamed budgie instead of trying to hand feed him yourself, the person you bought the budgie of should be shot!

I bred budgies from some time now and I decided to handfeed one since there is NO TAMED budgies in Portugal for sell!

hes happly been fed by a V spoon now, thanks

PS: I miss understood the "bred" word lol

Personally I think you have taken it away from it's mum to early. 4 weeks would of been early enough and then you are risking it not getting enough nutrition. 2 1/2 weeks in my opinion is wrong.

But after saying that good luck with him, but if the parents have any more chicks you could always put him back until he is a little older.

Jetsbudgie, this is uncalled for. No one sold her this bird, she bred it herself. The question was asked whether she had bought it, and you did not wait for her to give an answer.

HOWEVER, I will say, Silva, that if you don't know how to hand raise a baby bird, you should NOT remove it from its parents. Learn what you are doing first, or else you endanger your chick's life.

Hey there!

I tough I knew everything, but there is little information how to feed the chick for the first time.. after all I just had to wait till it waked me up in the morning crying for food and now I feed the happy chick with a spoon with no problems.

The reason I didnt giev up and returned it to his parents was because people keep telling me not to giev up! and I always loved having a tamed and very friendly bird.

ANOTHER THING... i'm a dude... I used Silva here cause its my last name which people used to call me on the army and I started lovin it xD

You do realize though that you can get a perfectly hand tamed and very friendly budgie but handling them daily and leaving them with their parents. It upsets me when the chicks are taken from their parents just to get a hand tamed baby... you can lose them if you don't know what you are doing and you can never really re-create what the parents give them in their first weeks of life.

what I realy hate the most is messing around with their nest! I dont think their parents enjoy it..

Check nest and chicks , plus handle chicks every day will quiten hens down.
