December 23, 201113 yr Author I am very happy with my start Kochy, have been lucky to pick up some nic stock birds from some very good breeders which has made it easy to pop out a few good ones. I needed to try and breed a few comepetive birds as I have gone straight inti intermediate status. Coming up your way in late Jan GB I think, will let you know.
December 24, 201113 yr Intermediate class is hard so I have been told, lol, some one told me the other day when I was having a whinge that open is easier than intermediate, I am sure they were trying to make me feel better, lol. I only got to spend the 12 months in Intermediate and only got to show 2 local shows and the unbroken cap show. Uugghh open now. I am sure you will have some quality birds to show next year Dan.

Um... when you win Best in Show Splatmeister it doesn't matter what class you show in. You will probably be in champion in 12 months.
December 25, 201113 yr LOL I don't think so Dan, I haven't bred the birds, bad year last year and this year but praying for better results next year. I lost most of my best nest this year. My sky is looking great but he is going to be flecked and the spangle is looking smashing too but so far slight flecking, they are still moulting. The sky might not grow his tail back yet, story of my life.

December 30, 201113 yr bahahahahahahaha!!! I keep misreading posts, i thought you said "Very happy thanks Kaz and Flip. It's good fun chucking nests at the moment" I need to read things more slowly
December 30, 201113 yr Author Thanks for the comments guys. The parents of that skyblue are not visually that good at all. I have a feeling that the cock (a 2011 grey) is pre-potent so will test mate him again and see if he throws on again. I was lucky enough to have a bird like this years ago and it can really kick you along. I have a grey opaline hen from the same nest that is feathering up very nicely as well. These birds are out of what I will now call the "cobalt line". They are birds that I bought from a local breeder who was selling out and I was lucky to get them. You don't need big money to breed good birds, just a bit of luck.
December 31, 201113 yr You don't need big money to breed good birds, just a bit of luck. and a good "eye" and good judgement with parings

December 31, 201113 yr But you still need plus a bit of luck picking up the right birds. Kaz I think I am coming over in June/July my sons are nagging me so I think I need to take the leap and go. So I will see what I have spare for you probably not much the way I am going but you never know. That's if you are even interested in my birds though Edited December 31, 201113 yr by splat
December 31, 201113 yr Author Pretty much all of the above. Picking up good stock to start with and pairing them right will probabaly increase your luck.

January 17, 201213 yr Author Well hello nice little grey! I am really looking forward to seeing how your little ones moult out. Please do updates. Yeah me too! First rounders are goign through thier moult and there are some nnice birds among them, I did better with the second round when some of the blues I gotr fired up. I have to figure out which lines to work with next season. I was going to do my hard cull after 2 seasons and breed 2 lines but I think I might do that this year now. I have pretty much made up my mind on what lines I want to strengthen and then combine.
