October 12, 201113 yr Well I for one am glad it is not in my aviary. I don't like it at all. owww ouch care to elaborate? Don't take it the wrong way I just don't like it. Does it have any backscull? What about width across the shoulders? To be honest I don't think the photo does it any favours. It's hard to see if it has any width in the forehead area either.
October 12, 201113 yr I actually agree with Renee. I do not like Crested as the head feathers look wrong to me, and this is very much along the same lines. I want to breed budgies, no upside down peacocks. This is where the show world is going, and this is something I find greatly DIScouraging.
October 12, 201113 yr This is where the show world is going, and this is something I find greatly DIScouraging. Oh I don't think you need worry about that Dave. I have noticed that some European countries reward disproportioned birds but not here in Australia. Not for now any way
October 12, 201113 yr yeah fair enough each to their own i guess. you have to imagine how much time and work went into obtaining those features though pretty incredible even if its not everyones cup of tea. birds here in NZ are quite different to this, in fact ours are quite similar to your guys i think we even adopted the same standards as you guys Edited October 12, 201113 yr by kochy23
October 12, 201113 yr I agree, Has the biggest blow and directional feather. mask = fantastic! I would still love to have him in my aviary. Doesn't seem to have much body or width to the bird, and he doesn't look very long. The picture may be deceiving. He is still a nice bird though, but has some things that could be improved.

They tend to photograph the top end of the birds only in the UK. I have seen this bird in a different picture and the head touches the top of the box and the tail is on the ground, so definitely not short on length. It beat 1800 other birds at the Budgerigar society world show, would not have won without width or length. I think the bird looks short because the mask is so long. 2010 Budgerigar Society World Show
October 12, 201113 yr Well if you pop one out that looks like this, let me know and I will take it of your hands. Nah I won't be breeding anything like that! But on the off chance, I'll keep you in mind! Edited October 12, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
October 12, 201113 yr Looks like it stuck it's foot in a power socket, or spent too much time under those blow waving hats That being said... pretty impressive if that's what you breed for.
October 12, 201113 yr An amazing looking budgie bred by Les Martin from the UK. Won best in show 2010 B.S. Club show. Les Martin won it again this year with a blue. He has shoulder and how can you tell he doesn't have back scull Renee when you can't see that area anyway. I think he is magnificent. I would be proud to breed a bird like that but then at the same time the directional feather is almost going to far.

October 12, 201113 yr personally i think les martins birds are fantastic this is not a good picture of this bird at all here is a better picture of him done by a friend of mine in America called Alan Bundy if you care to read his blog you will find many more beautiful well p reported and nicely feathered English breed exhibition birds http://www.awbbudgies.blogspot.com/ enjoy the read An amazing looking budgie bred by Les Martin from the UK. October 12, 201113 yr He would get NOWHERE in a show here.......he would have been DISQUALIFIED for missing a sh*tload of flights off his wings LMAO :D Edited October 12, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
October 12, 201113 yr He would get NOWHERE in a show here.......he would have been DISQUALIFIED for missing a sh*tload of flights off his wings LMAO :D he is not missing flights kaz the feathers are longer so it seems he is hes not they are very very strict in England even drop one spot your out
October 13, 201113 yr I think he ugly. He doesn't even look like a budgie This is an example of breeders going too far to develop show points I agree with Dave - I want to breed budgies, not upside down peacocks
October 13, 201113 yr Who wants to bet the bird(?) can't even fly? Edited October 13, 201113 yr by Hezz
October 13, 201113 yr Good and Bad,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, mask i like spot yes rest of the bird is not my cup of tea however that said there are one or two breeders here (AUS) who are pushing for this tpye of bird once they get a foothold the $$$$ follow and guess what we all follow that band..............once again cyncical me its all about $$$$$$ look where have come in the past 2/3 years ................"THE BUFFALO LOOK"...................can only hazard a guess where we will be in 10 years...............CHEERS TAZ D
October 13, 201113 yr I have to agree,he is a shocker. His feathers have been teased out. But no doubt, that type of bird will be winning all over England, I think that type of bird have been winning in Europe. GB, a bird won best in show a year or 2 back,at the big show & he had no tail, So I guess, tails & wing feathers, are not a big point loser, in England.
