Posted October 11, 201113 yr Has anyone seen double feathers on their birds, this bird I thought was getting something like french moult because his body feathers sit out like you see in the photo, he has all flights and tail etc. I showed 2 breeders today and they said it was double feather and they just pulled them off, his brother is the same and they told me that birds that have double feathers turn out really good. I have never seen this before but both birds are really good. You can see on his front
October 11, 201113 yr I have had birds like the second, and once they have a fligh, preen, move etc, the feather settles. If I had one like the first, I would just pull it out.
October 11, 201113 yr It isn't feather duster? No do yourself a favour and read up on our forum feather duster topics so you can tell the difference.
October 11, 201113 yr Author The green spangle is 7 weeks and the sky sp is 6 weeks old, Taylor, not feather duster. And Squeak that's what I thought would happen but no they just got more and more and some fell out and Geoff just plucked the rest out and said it was double feather. You can't even tell they have been pulled out. Evidently it is a sign of a good feathered bird. The sky spangle had them all over his front today but are gone now plucked out.
October 12, 201113 yr Has anyone seen double feathers on their birds. Yes a few of my birds have had those. Maybe if I was putting them into a Show I'd pull them out. otherwise I just ignored them!
