November 20, 201113 yr I know what you mean Robyn, my aviaries are in the backyard not far from where Greg and I sit, so I can watch them all the time and I use to enjoy watching mine on the floor too but not anymore, I have to settle watching them on the perch. But my sheets of metal were put up to stop the dog peeing in the aviaries so the sacrifice was worth it. couldn't stand dog pee on my floors , yuk. lol, should've trained the dog to fertilise the garden, that's wut we did, and we get the best plants ever where our dog poops and peas
November 20, 201113 yr Not really sure about dog poos and wees being good fertilizer Edited November 20, 201113 yr by Twisted
November 20, 201113 yr Our dog gets a natural diet and when he pees on the lawn , the lawn dies ,large brown spots every where. So I am guessing if he urinated in the garden on the plants, they would die too. To much acid in urine. Anyway the problem is he is a male dog and when he does start marking his territory he won't care what he pees on as long as it has his cent on it. AND that will include aviaries. I do not wish to have him pee in my budgie aviaries ever. He hasn't started cocking his leg yet and he is 19 months old. he is still peeing like a female.
November 20, 201113 yr lol anyway, let's move slightly back on topic, my grandparents used to have canaries and a dog, it kept peeing on their aviary, and they used some kind of liquid spray or paint on (can't remember which) and the canaries loved it, but the dog wanted to get as far away from the stuff as possible
November 26, 201113 yr can we get bac to my topic Hi Dillster, we seem to have hi-jacked your post. Have you and Dad made any more progress on you aviary? Do you have birds for it yet or are you getting them later? That's the exciting bit actually releasing some birds into your aviary after all the hard work.
