Posted September 24, 201113 yr Just wondering how many poeple keep or breed bush budgies/ wild type? Also what mutations they are getting?
September 27, 201113 yr Bush budgies easily found on petlink au. Genuine bush budgies should only ever come in green, green and green. If you are getting anything else by breeding your bush budgies then you have been "had" and you havent real bush budgies.
September 28, 201113 yr Author I believe there is a breeder in tamworth that obtained 30 birds from the csiro in coffs habour after a study on breeding patterns was done. After breeding these for the past 20+ years he has several mutation including blue budgies they do not have white faces only yellow. Not trying to start an argument but mutations will appear after time, this also occurs in the wild but they are general killed off by predators due to the colours, that make them stand out.
September 28, 201113 yr I've seen "bush budgies" before and cost $50 each. I didn't believe it as there Ceres looked young and I could see some of mutations in some. To me, the only true way of knowing whether they are bush budgies is with proof via papers/documents. True bush budgies wouldn't be sold at any old pet shop:)
September 29, 201113 yr Idont know if i have bush budgies or not but i do have 2 green ones that have just breed and the first baby one came out on sunday and the other came out today this is my first time breeding budgies so i might need a bit of help.

There are people who breed nothing but bush budgies at home and they do supply pet stores every now and then. Over here the average price for bush budgies is $30
September 29, 201113 yr I wouldn't trust them personally. If I want quality birds, I go to a professional breeder, not a pet shop. The conditions most pet shops have is appalling. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to stereotype all pet shops, it's just there are few good quality, well looked after pet shops anymore. But I can understand your point Kaz. Hooray for different opinions... a bit cheesy sorry...
September 29, 201113 yr Mate of mine had some true genuine ones. They saved them up north a few years ago when 1000s of them were falling out the sky. Remember it being on the news ? Not long after that i did see a bit of an increase in bb's being sold so i wonder if that had Any relevance

September 29, 201113 yr Oh I know. I am selling any extras later on to a pet shop, I was just stating my opinion! I'm not trying to be rude. Edited September 29, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
