October 7, 201113 yr Author Line breeding Renee building a foundation. I guess a stud. All my birds are now related but last year bought in out crosses and this year put them back young to their uncles and aunties and yes it worked. I think I can say I now have a stud because my birds have a certain look about them. That light green spangle is a chip off the block , just looks like his dad when he was a baby and the sky spangle just looks like his uncle when he was a baby. The sky baby just looks like the violets which are their uncles too (Half Uncles).when they were babies. I am really delight. Edited October 7, 201113 yr by splat
October 7, 201113 yr I think I can say I now have a stud because my birds have a certain look about them. I certainly believe that is the real definition of a stud. Well done you Splat! How many years has it taken you?
October 7, 201113 yr Author Thanks Dan yes I am thinking the shield lol if he keeps his tail. So far so good. But part me doesn't want to win much for a couple of years because I am not ready to go into open yet, to hard that class.
October 8, 201113 yr Thanks Dan yes I am thinking the shield lol if he keeps his tail. So far so good. But part me doesn't want to win much for a couple of years because I am not ready to go into open yet, to hard that class. It's a strong class but that bird has a super head and face. Its got amazing lift. The distance between the top of the head and the cere is enormous. It's hard to tell what the rest of the bird is like but it would have to get right up there if things go your way. Things must have changed then, back in the day open was easier than Intermediate. I wouldn't worry too much, it looks like the birds are good enough. Edited October 8, 201113 yr by fordmob
October 8, 201113 yr Author He might not get selected yet Dan, that's if I even decide to show. But I might . Yes the spangle class is strong. I have got a second with his Aunty in spangle unbroken cap a couple of years ago and 3rd and 5th with his Uncles in the DF spangle class and and 1st with his Grandfather in the violet class and 5th with his Uncle in the violet class and 3 rd in the violet class with his cousin. So the genes are there. Just have to wait and see. LOL a first would be delightful but just to finish in the top 10 would do me.
October 8, 201113 yr You are really on to something with your birds, it's not easy getting a line of quality birds that also breed consistently. Look forward to seeing your birds at the shield.
