Hi i am new to this forum stuff LOL:blush: . But thought you guys might beable to help me out...I have 2 pairs of budgies who have sucessfuly bred in the past for me but this time 1 of my pairs have thrown out her babies...

so i have 4 babies that need feeding 1 of the babies dosent even have its eyes open yet. I have egg and biscuit mix here which i give to my birds while they are breeding, my problem is i am 3hrs from the nearest town and want to know is this good enough to feed them?? or do i need to add something else to make it suitable for newly hatched babies??

I have a 6mth old baby myself and have plenty of formula and baby food and plenty of bird seed but not much else in the way of food for them...keeping them warm is Not a problem as i have a heat light i use for my chickens so have them under that...

If anyone has any help full hints or tips could they please help me out.. Also these babies have broken skin from where the parents were attacking them what do i use on it or do i just leave their skin to heal itself?

Thanks Happychappy:blush:

H,i noticed you had no replies to date. If chicks are that young you will have to get food into them pronto. If by chance you have baby rice cereal or similar, you could try them with that mixed with a bit of boiled warm water, they may take it off a spoon or tip of toothpick if they're really small, even mixed to put into a syringe may help. Can't help with much other advice but sure someone else will but the sooner they get some food the better their chances. Good luck and see how you go.

Hi Happychappy , well done, glad to see you have saved the chicks, they will starve very quickly when tiny.

I'm not sure of how often to feed, if you feed until their crops are pretty full you can wait until the crops nearly empty then try again.

I have never hand fed any chicks yet, I presume they would call for food if they are hungry.

If you go to f.a.q you would probably find an article on hand rearing that may help if no-one else answers.

Keep us posted as to how you go. Or if you need more advice.

Any update on your chicks Happychappy? Hope all is going well. :)
