Posted September 14, 201113 yr Well hey everyone haven't posted in ages had Internet issues ext.ext. I have a problem well what i think to be a problem: Just two weeks ago I places a hen and cock into a breeding cage as it looked like they had paired in to aviary and since then the hen has laid one egg which she then didn't sit on and turfed after 3 or 4 days then a week passed and thought nothing off it she had no signs of egg binding ext. However just yesterday i found another egg in the box but yet again she isn't sitting on it or even showing any interest in the nesting box. What does this mean? What can i do?
September 14, 201113 yr Hen do not sit on their eggs the moment they are laid. They wait till they have 3-4 or half a clutch, so getting anxious about her not sitting immediately is kinda wrong information you are operating off. As far as tossing it out goes, maybe hen was stressed from overchecking the box by yourself perhaps ? Edited September 14, 201113 yr by **KAZ**
September 15, 201113 yr Author Kaz trust me i don't over check have done this before and lost a whole clutch. Only reason i posted was due to the face the all the other hen i have used spent much more time in the nesting box. Thanks for your reply always appreciated Jack
