Okay, so I have 6 new budgies. 3 are the offspring of the other 3 ( colony breeding, two males, one female ) and none of the adults are pieds.

BUT....

One of the babies is a dominant pied. The other two are albino so I guess I have an split albino male.

So how does that work?

It's definitely dom pied, not rec. Two iris rings.

I'll go up and get pics now.

 

Mum is cobalt spangle and the males are both normals.

 

Any thoughts?

One of the albinos is the Dad as he can mask any variety

 

Think of him as a dom pied wearing a white sheet

For a baby to dom pied one of the parents has to be one. Is the spangle mother a dom pied spangle ?

Check re Kaz above or do the pieds have a band or clear area around the chest/shoulder? Can you put some pics up of them?

 

Clearflighteds are recessive aren't they?

Ratzy - put some pics up of the birds.

 

Sometimes the pied markings are so slight they are not noticeable, even to a somewhat experiences eye.

 

I am sure that people far more experienced than me will be able to assist you int he correct identification.

Nope not recessive pied.......

 

and the spangle looks like a spangle too.......but better and more photos of the spangle is needed......whack it into a show cage for better closeups.

I keep looking and looking and all I come up with is the green cock has a tiny pied spot on the back of his head which would make him split Rec wouldn't it? But if the baby is a dom pied, then this wouldn't work.

 

I can't see any other indication of pied anywhere!

I agree its another hard one.

Get hold of both the normals and check the down colour. If they are normal it will be grey. If it is white then it is a Dutch Pied and it will be the parent of the Pied.

its the hen rip look at her wings (bar the fact of slight clipping they are a definitely cut off point where the spangled marks stop shes your pied right their

 

and yes a dutch clearflight not dom pied look at his banding
