My hen laid a total of 5 eggs her last egg was laid 3 days ago, she would lay an egg every other day , she hasn't stayed in the nest box at all they only time shes stayed in the box is when she was in the process of laying and egg

is this normal for exhibition Budgies?, its been the 1st time Ive tried to breed em, Ive bred regular budgies before and they tend to stay in the box after the 2-3 egg is laid

I cover the cage at night, and Ive noticed that when i uncover it in the morning the hen is in the exact same spot she was before covering it, but not in the box

any suggestion's? thanks

The Hen should be staying in the nest for most of the time. She will come out for feeding and other business.

Rarely this is one of those old wives tales many people say.................hens arent that smart. You would get the odd one or two who will throw out clear eggs after they have not developed but this is due to her sitting on them expecting a hatching and its gone past that date. Other hens will throw out perfectly good eggs with chicks in them.

How well is the hen ? A sick hen wont sit on her eggs and a sick hen wont raise chicks.

The hen is 1yr and 6 months old, the cock is 2 yrs old

shes in great shape to my view, i will post picture of my setup as soon as i can

ah okay, today she laid another egg, so she has a total of 6 eggs, shall i remove the nest box and eggs and put them (hen and cock) in a regular cage?
