August 7, 201113 yr i still say female, because it is abit wite around her nostrils, and is playing and all that with the other male, i am sure i am not wrong and why isn't kaz replying here?? The link dosen't show bright pink, really bright, because if you were here, you would see it is fully pink, and white around the edges The description you just gave indicates male. Females should have an all over whiteness of the cere, with the nostrils being a bit whiter often. Males have the slightly darker baby pink/purple cere , and they also have white circles around the nares (nostrils) sometimes. As mentioned, budgies often form relationships with same sex, especially males. If I went down to my aviary, I would see just as many if not more males feeding/bonding, then hen's and males. Also, Kaz isn't the only member on here who can answer questions. Some people on here have been breeding for very long, and have very much experience and knowledge, some even more then Kaz. We are lucky enough to have this forum, every one's opinion and advice should be valued. Edited August 7, 201113 yr by Squeak_Crumble
August 7, 201113 yr Author Yea i know, i said is is white, i am new to breeding so yea. It is white alot around but if you see it from my vision you will say it is female, trust vets and everyone that i know that says it is a female Hi guys I bred another pair, that laid 5 eggs, 2 cracked, and 3 left, the last egg should be hatched on the 10-8-11 so maybe this week they hatch XD peace
August 7, 201113 yr I have had 'experts' tell me a rec pied male was female only to come on here and find out I'd been had. I've learnt to not trust people that say they are experts, I've even had vets say they are not experts. Have you candled the remaining 3 eggs? Hopefully you'll have some luck

August 10, 201113 yr yea thanks, and also, the hen is going in and out of the nest box alot, with no eggs, in the box, could she be laying more eggs, and she is chucking out some nesting material, good signs??? if shes already laid one round i wouldnt expect her to take take to long to lay again, she will lay when shes ready Edited August 15, 201113 yr by Finnie
August 10, 201113 yr chucking out the nesting material is a good sign as well as going in and out of the nest box. She's basically rearranging everything to her liking for when she lays
