Could there be a white budgie when hatched?????

For now, i have a yellow male, and i am going to get another blue female tomorrow:)

Do your yellow and white budgies have a red eye?

 

If they are then it is lutino which is sex linked, there are some genetic charts on here somewhere I think, if not you will find them on the web.

 

Bear in mind that Lutinos are really "green" without markings which means they will be dominant over "blue". To get an albino out of your first pairing then your Lutino will need to be split blue. All of your hens out of this pairing will be lutino or albino and your cocks will be spilt lutino or albino.

By White i believe you mean Albino.

 

An Albino is a combination bird. It is a Blue Lutino.

 

 

There is no such thing as a green budgerigar. What we see as Green is a Blue and Yellow pigmented bird.

 

If the Male is a Lutino, the Ino gene will remove the blue pigment turning the bird pure yellow.

 

 

the blue gene does not make the bird blue it removed the yellow pigment and so what we see as a green bird turns blue.

 

 

If the bird is an ino (no blue) and is also effected by the Blue gene (no yellow) it is a white bird or Albino. If you case it will be a hen.

Also if you get that budgie tomorrow, you will need to quarantine it in another cage away from your other birds for at least amonth.

I bought 4 budgies about 6 weeks ago from a breeder in my club who was selling out to retire. Thank goodness I did quarantine them, one came out with scaly face, two came out with this wheezy chest which killed one of them. The other hen is still wheezing away and I have treated her with antibiotics and now I am using a pyrethrum spray on advice from my club and she is still wheezy. I could have lost ALL my birds if I hadn't quarantined them away. These birds looked absolutely beautiful and fine when I bought them.

yeah moglet it is amazing what stress can do to them. after a month apart it seems they settle and then can be put with the gang.
