July 16, 201113 yr Eggs should be layed every 2 days. Don't keep checking though, it will freak the hen out. check once in the morning and once at night, and that is it.

July 17, 201113 yr Author 1 question guys:) If a budgie egg is infertile will the hen chuck it out or whY???? My budgie eggs r fertile but I am making sure. July 17, 201113 yr How do you know they are fertile? She only laid the second one today correct? It takes about 6 days of the hen sitting on the eggs until you can tell whether they are fertile or not. Hens will chuck eggs out that are way overdue to hatch sometimes. But they don't really know if the eggs are fertile or not. Hens will sit on infertile eggs.
July 17, 201113 yr you need to put something in the nest for warmth and for the hen like rolled oates or saw dust not much just a bit that box is bare so wont stay to warm if hen leaves to go eat Edited July 17, 201113 yr by GenericBlue
July 17, 201113 yr Author I was just asking. So if the eggs r infertile they will like chuck it out? Will anymore eggs lay if the hen has produced 2??? I love budgies
July 17, 201113 yr No thats up to you to decide. Get yourself a candling torch so that when the eggs reach the 6 day old mark you can check for fertility. I use a cheap little LED book light I got from the $2 shop. The hen will continue to lay eggs every 2 days until she decides its enough like Kaz said. But that is stated in the article she linked you. Are you sure you read it?
July 17, 201113 yr Please READ the article Kaz posted... or if you have, read it AGAIN and take notes on the things you want to know. It's all in there.
