Chick Not Fledging

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, hope all is well!

I while ago i had posted topic in regards to wondering why my bonded pair budgies hadn't succesfully breeded after months doing ''the job''. there was suspicion into whether i actually had 2 females

But after a week of moving temporarily out of town for work for 12months, my partner phoned to say my hen 'Olive' had laid 7 eggs!!! 4 fertile and hatched, sadly only one survived!! So my issue is the little fella is about 7 to 8 weeks of age now, my understanding is he should of fleged by now? from what i can see, his wing flight feathers have developed, only couple of his tail feathers slightly quilled. Outdoor aviary.

He/She is just beautiful and will have to put pics up, solid light green cinnamon from what i can guess  So any hints would be appreciated !

Feed them seed occasionally some millet and they get mix of chopped up veg and fruit. I was thinking of taking him out before mum has had enough?

What types of seeds, cause i know a few places that sell budgie.seeds and claim to be good for budgies but are total rubish, always get the premium brand aka trill then mix budgies greens and few coctiels seeds that what i use anyways. I started feeding Just normals seeds before and ive had few baby similar conditions to your budgies, but after ive change there diet seeds i haven't had any since and my budgies all come out fat and plump full and flight ready in only 4 weeks.

Petstock at home have them premixed so usually buy in bulk. So you think add some more nutrient seed and he will improve or just for next clutch?

Some chicks improve over time but some don't, i would remove the chick when your ready to breed you next clutch.

If there's any suspicions of nutrition issues dont breed another clutch just now.
