I'll try some pics Dave, BUT I was really upset a couple of days ago, noticed hanging feeder had dropped down to floor, on picking it up one of my poor spangle bubs was dead under it. It would have been sudden as it held about 3kg seed. I'm still trying to see which one it was. One was really nice, sat up nice and big bab,y really hoping it wasn't that one. :(

Oh no! Sorry to hear about the spangle bub :(

Hi All,

Adding some new pics with a query.

Parents.

1SmokyChinaCopy.jpg

2nd round chicks. 4 spangle 1, 1 looking pure white.

6-1.jpg

Query.. What would this chick be? d.e.clear or d.f.spangle? if it stays pure white.

Spangle to spangle pairings gives you a one in four chance ( 25% ) of a double factor spangle chick so YES you do have a white df spangle :D

Thanks Kaz, I haven't bred one before, I just hope it turns out a nice one :P

I just LOVE all your babies Robyn!!!! They are so beautiful! Ive got a huge soft spot for spangles, and the wee pieds too! Im so very sorry to read about the loss of your spangle baby though, its so heartbreaking isn't it? So often these things seem to happen to a gorgeous one too eh? So so upsetting, I do feel for you :( :(

I had been trying to breed or buy more spangles & wasn't having much luck, so last year I told my husband Id decided to downsize to keeping only 6pairs of budgies. However it seems the moment I said that out-loud, we hatched some very nice babies that I couldn't bear to part with, plus I recently found some lovely spangles for sale - Oh Oh...now we are going to add another little flight extension so there will be enough room. This birdie breeding stuff does become addictive doesn't it ?!

Good luck with your gorgeous birds!

Thanks Periquito, yes it does become addictive. Luckily due to council regs. & near neighbours I have to keep to 50 max. don't tell anyone but with latest chicks I will have about 80 birds all up, look out pet shop I'll have to whittle them down, I try to keep one of each type as well as my good breeders. Looks like some nice pieds as well as spangles in this lot. How do you choose !!! :)

Thanks for the pics. I love spangles too. I love the reverse wing patterns, especially on blue birds.

Yes, DF Spangle would be the white bird.

Thanks for the uploading of pics. I know it can be tough and time consuming to get pics however I am sure everyone loves seeing them. We all got into budgie in the first place as we loved the look of budgies. Even those more experienced show breeders still love the pics.
