June 21, 201114 yr Sheesh, I need a bex and a good lie down. I'm going to print that out and absorb it several times. Thank you! Sooo, like Albino's you can only get an opaline male if both parents are visually opaline? maaan, I need to cogitate on this one!!!!
June 21, 201114 yr Answer to your question is if a male is split cinn or opaline and the female is cinn or opaline you will get I think it is 25% cinn and oplaine cocks, 25 % split cocks, 25% normal hens and 25% cinn or opaline hens. Depending if the hen is cinn or opaline. BUT if the cock is normal and the hen is cinn or opaline only hens will be cinnamon and opalineYou treat sex link,(opaline cinnamon) as the same as inos. June 22, 201114 yr Author Hi Everyone, thanks for all your help on this. As a newbie i'm learning so much from you all. I've taken some more pics in natural light as well as a picture of mum and dad budgie as suggested. Dad Mum (Sunshine) Baby in better light
June 22, 201114 yr Dad looks be a sky and mum a yellow face violet, could be golden but as I said earlier I don't know much about golden faces. I think bubs is a cobalt opaline yellow face hen. Does bub look blue or grey to you Sunshine.
June 22, 201114 yr baby is definitely a visual violet on my screen Opaline (hen ) this means dad is normal sky blue / Opaline mum is taken with flash still so wont comment on weather shes golden face or just type two yellow face but shes a spangle violet id say looking at her cheek patches for best color true to life really need a picture of her with sunlight only no flash full body shot to judge on gf or yf the chick looks normal yf as not much suffusion but that can just mean its not going to get it till it moults out if its goldenface this chick will turn from this beautiful violet to a mucky moss green colour through out if this happens its a single factor goldenface if it satys same after molt its just a type two however that doesnt mean mum is still not a goldenface /to type two yellow face if she is id guess shes df goldenface as suffusion stops at chest so either it is worth mentioning single factor goldenfaces they are beautiful baby makers when it comes to colour as ugly as they may become with the suffusion so well worth keeping
June 22, 201114 yr My screen she looks cobalt but then it does look iffy because she looks cobalt grey to me, so she probably is a violet.
June 22, 201114 yr this is the kindest way ive ever been told im missing major peaices of info lol also got me to read back my words ... your learning to read me very well finne Aw, thanks GB:blush: I had to laugh. When I read what your wrote, it made perfect sense to me. It wasn't until Moglet had a question, that I went back and saw how you had worded it. Hey Sunshine's Dad, whatever she is, your Sunshine is one gorgeous bird. I love the yellow in her spangle wings!
June 25, 201114 yr Author Hi Everyone, thanks for your help again. I just wanted to show off Sunshine's other babies so here some pics also does anyone know why some get the black marks on their beaks? Sunshines first babies Sunshines second lot of babies
June 25, 201114 yr Author So pretty! You must be very happy with these littlies! Thanks, I am very happy with them, I have been out all day looking for an aviary so I can keep them all
June 25, 201114 yr moglet - Opaline is a sex linked gene. to get a Opaline from this pairing it means dad is split for the gene. Males need two of the gene to appear as Opaline so it rules out cock for this chick.
June 25, 201114 yr and they are not golden faces by way as beautiful as they are they are just type 2 yellow as splat first quoted Edited June 25, 201114 yr by GenericBlue

June 26, 201114 yr also does anyone know why some get the black marks on their beaks? Its an indicator of heavily melanin and is usually only whilst in the nest. Once they fledge the nest it begins to fade away...may only last a week or two.
