As far as perches go ,just use dowel from your local hardware.I have two flights in my aviary ,i used normal house framing timber for the dividers then painted them with white semi gloss.I put some pictures of my aviary to give you some ideas, the awning is a new addition ,keeps the rain out.

I use melamine for shelving in the aviary because it is easy to clean, I use dowel and 1 inch x inch pine and hardwood perches also. And as Phill, normal house building materials are fine just as long as they are not treated.

Hey Phill how did you do you awning because Greg is meant to be making a veranda for mine to keep the rain out also but we were going to put post in to hold it up but your idea looks better, mice can't climb up it. But how does it stay there, what supports do you have etc,, hey send me the plans pleasssssssssssse

I just purchased some more of the original roofing Julie & shingled it under the existing roof and re-tech screwed it down. The extension is 600ml long and it is slid under, past the tech screws aprox 50 ml.I was going to support it on the ends ,but honestly it doesn't need it,we have had some bad winds lately & rain,no problem at all with it,$78.00 further investment worth every cent.

I thought that is how you did it But I would have a hard time doing mine like that because the roof is lined but I will ask Greg and see what he says. But I might still do it like my original plan because when it gets hotter I am going to need to put shade cloth across the front because I my bird room faces the worst way. South is the worst right and is it east or west the is second worst, But anyway at the moment my birds get plenty of afternoon sun but when it warms up a bit it will be just awful. It is not cold in there now at all in the winter so I can image how hot it will get later on. It's all because where the door and window face, I hate it but had NO choice.

My last aviary & my current one face east Julie, best option is to face the wire north so i am told.If it faces south Julie just plant some trees as a wind break or maybe some latice in front & plant a grape vine or something like that to use as a wind break.

okay I worked it out Phill, My birdroom faces West, so it gets strong winds and rain, and in the summer strong afternoon sun.

There is a climbing bush in the front about 5 feet away so it would break some of the wind, it separates the main yard from my bird room area and keeps Jake out too. I don't won't it any closer because the mice might climb up it and jump on my roof. so far I am mouse proof which is lovely.

I told Greg about the way you did yours and he said it would be a cheaper way than what I have planned.
