June 11, 201113 yr Hi Scittyscatty. I'd say he looks like a boy. And he's some kind of pied. Based on how clear the front of his body is, I would almost say either a double factor dominant pied, or some combination of more than one pied. Do you have any pictures of his back, so we can see what his wing markings look like? He's a cutie!

June 12, 201113 yr Dominant Pied Opaline and is looking Grey Green. Check the cheek patch if violet it is not Grey Green. The cheeks patches have lost there colour due to the action of the pied gene. As for being a double factor dom pied. Unless you know the breeding or will bred from this bird you will never know for sure. I have seen single factor pieds with this level of piedness. I am not 100% on this cause one photo makes me think cock and then I look at the second picture and I see hen. So for me jury is out for the time being.
June 12, 201113 yr it cant be grey green as cheek patch is blue as maybe dark green but the rest i agree with im tipping hen
June 12, 201113 yr Looks dark green opaline dominant pied to me. Wouldnt be too quick to say boy as the photos arent all that clear. Is the CERE ( part with nostrils ) whitish ?
June 12, 201113 yr What a cute baby! Have fun with it, it looks very relaxed and must be loved to be so. Keep us posted on her/his progress. I'm not experienced enough with really young budgies to comment on gender!
June 12, 201113 yr Author hi all thanks we are in between the stages of him allowing us to ut hand in the cage and to be finger tame at them moment we have only had him for less than a week too we are hoping him but still as u all say are unsure of the sex the cere is whitish yes what does this mean???? cutie
June 12, 201113 yr White near nostrils means hen Forget the "near nostrils" thing. White on the cere means hen not sure of the sex yet anyone got any ideas????? Cere looks whitish blue...........I say HEN ( female )
June 12, 201113 yr Hi Scitty, Just a query, in your picture it looks like loose ribbons in cage? If so, they can be a danger to birds getting strangled etc. also sandpaper can make their feet sore so newspaper may be a better option. Don't know sex or mutation but it's a lovely bird.
June 17, 201113 yr Author its shredded paper that he/she has chucked out of nesting box didnt know that about sandpaper will keep a close eye on feet thanks we arent fussed about the sex of the budgie but nice to have some idea i guess we will just have to wait to find out when its a bit older x
June 18, 201113 yr its shredded paper that he/she has chucked out of nesting box Remove the nestbox immediately ..............or you will cause yourself issues
June 18, 201113 yr it cant be grey green as cheek patch is blue as maybe dark green but the rest i agree with im tipping hen GB, sweetheart I did not say the bird was definately a Grey Green. I said it looked Grey Green ( I think I was on the laptop at the time and colour are different on there) that is why I followed with Quote: "Check the cheek patch if violet it is not Grey Green."
June 18, 201113 yr i wasn't saying you said Grey green definitely, i said it couldn't be cause its cheeks were blue sorry if you thought i was saying you were wrong
