Posted June 9, 201114 yr Hi everyone just wanted to share a few pictures of my new budgies after a 30 day quarantine Correct me if I'm wrong classifying their colors I feel this pair of show budgies is really beautiful and will produce really nice chicks in the future when i set them up for breeding, first i want them to get real comfortable to there new surroundings for a few more months and get in condition I was doing research and think this is a creamino female (has red eyes but not visible on picture) I believe this cock is a green dilute clearwing spangle Hes a bit fluffed up at the time because its kind of fresh outside once it gets warm ill take another picture of him and he wont be fluffed up anymore And this is my hen a cobalt violet i believe i circled in red where some of the violet is visible Thank you every one
June 9, 201114 yr hehe - you weren't kidding when you said fluffed up a bit, he's like a little fluff ball I have no clue on the different types so I'll leave that to everyone else, but I think they look pretty, especially "Fluffy" haha

June 10, 201114 yr Hi This one will need longer than a few months to be old enough for breeding. She is a baby. Wait ten months. The fluffed up one is sick, not just fluffed up due to cold or they would all be looking like that. Did you buy them all from the same place ? The blue hen is nice PS quarantine is AWAY from all others in another room, in another airspace, not with cages all in the same room.

Yes the regular baby parakeet is for my sibling hes been teaching it to step up and go to his shoulder, the show type are the ones i hope to breed i thought it was because it was cold early in the morning, when i first got him he wouldn't really eat then he started eating a lot and a few days ago when weather started to be more cool he don't really eat much till the afternoon when its warm that when i really see him eating a lot, since i work from home i have a chance to be checking up on them all day and that's what ive noticed are there any suggestions on what i can do to see if he'll get better Yes i did get them all from the same place but at different dates the blue one and yellow one i purchased the same day i did have those 3 all in a separate room far from the others
June 10, 201114 yr hi lion that bird is unwell as kaz says its hunched like a belly ache try separating him and giving a bit of raspberry cordial and a few drops of lemon juice in water seed only apart from that bring him inside where its warm or in a shed covered with a towel at night keep eye on its droppings for colour change they should be round solid dark with good white spot if not report back what they are like if for a week of the cordial and juice he seems still bad i suggest vet that way you will know if you need to treat others for something he may be carrying when you get different birds even from same breeder but at different times each lot should be quarantined away from the other lots good luck but he is sick your cobalt is just cobalt nice hen to
June 10, 201114 yr i thought it was because it was cold early in the morning, when i first got him he wouldn't really eat then he started eating a lot and a few days ago when weather started to be more cool he don't really eat much till the afternoon when its warm that when i really see him eating a lot, since i work from home i have a chance to be checking up on them all day and that's what ive noticed He isnt eating a lot....he is pretending to eat. Thats a sign of a bird sick with megabacteria usually and thats serious. Pick him up and feel how thin he is ...check him over. Separate him into a cage with a warm lamp and seed all over the floor to encourage easy eating. BUT if you look closely he wont be eating ...the seed will be dropping out the side of his beak. He is very sick and may not last very long.
June 10, 201114 yr Author He was thinner than he is I get him out his cage everyother day and I usually feel a full crop, I'll be putting him in a separate cage tomorrow thou, in the case that it is megabacteria is there anything I can try and do to help him? I can't afford to take him to the vet
June 10, 201114 yr In another cage tomorrow isnt soon enough....do it now and get some warmth up to him. Megabacteria if he has that wont cure itself.
June 10, 201114 yr Author I can't today it's Thursday night it's 11:45pm I'll have to wake up early tomorrow morning, I always cover the cages at night time with a blanket, and in the morning my brother uncovers all cages before he leaves
June 10, 201114 yr Author okay I just set him up in his own cage covered 3-4 of the cage with a blanket and put a black light 40w ( that's the only light I was able to find at home that was low, is that fine ?
