Hi

When I was young (30 years ago)I was told that budgies should not eat wet seed. After all the rain we have had some of my seed got wet. IS it still the case that wet seed is not good for the budgies?

Thanks

How wet did it get and how long was it wet, like is it mouldy or smelly. It is no different now than 30 years ago. We soak seed but only for 24 hours some sprout it but again that is for only about 48 hours and that is rinsing regularly. The seed gets a rotten smell when wet after a few days, more than likely it will make your birds sick.

We got rain in Kens parrot aviary last night.....the seed got wet. The seed that got wet was fresh. While fresh from rain the birds love it. I rinse it and give it to them the first day and remove it before night feeding.

As there is plenty that got wet, my budgies were given some as well.
