Posted May 21, 201114 yr It's only been his second day, but whenever I open or close any of the cage doors, they make a little bit of a screeching noise [metal on metal]. It stops him from doing whatever he is doing. Is this a reason for me to worry? Do budgies get used to the sound of an opening/closing cage?
May 21, 201114 yr It's all new to him, Goldman. Strange cage. Strange person looking at him with big scary eyes. He'll get used to the noise. Especially the first week or so, they're uncertain about what's going on and whether they should be concerned or not. Just talk to him, and take it easy. Leave the radio, tv or music on during the day as well. Continuous background noise makes them feel safer. No noise means a predator is around. Keep this filed, and read through this on taming. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/index.php?action=artikel&cat=3&id=155&artlang=en

October 14, 201212 yr I never go near my bird cages without making kissy sounds, tsk tsk, or talking softly. It does help. I've had my first pair about 2 weeks now. Lots of changes in that time, I no more than got them, and we packed up and headed to the Smokeys for vacation. But they are calming down now. Today I stirred things up by adding 2 more. Everyone (but the canary) is giving me the evil eye! There's always a radio or TV going for sound. I learned that with my canary.
