hi everyone, Well a couple of days ago my beautiful budgie snowpeel escaped the aviary. We searched everywhere to find where she got out but couldn't find it. Well yesterday my sister found snowpeel on the grass. I was gone so she just put her back in the aviary. She seems very sick and hasn't moved from her spot since yesterday and is always sleeping. What do i have to do to make her into a healthier budgie? and do i have to hand feed her because i haven't een her eat or drink since yesterday?

Firstly I'd bring her inside and keep her in a cage with a lamp over one end for warmth. Make sure she has access to water and seed as normal. Watch her very carefully, and look to see if she's eating (hulled seed) and check her poo also.

I agree with the others. Aviary is not a good idea right now.

thanks for the advice, I've got a lamp over her and the food and water in as usual. I'm watching her very carefully. But I noticed when I was catching her that she couldn't fly and landed straight on the ground. She has also lost most of her tail and wing feathers. Her eye is also unusual as she keeps blinking and it looks as though its been hurt. I think she was attacked by some miner birds. :'(

 

I think I need a new aviary. My mum and dad said I could but they're not sure any more because we are doing renovations. But I think we are getting it after renos and when we get some of our backyard cemented. Hopefuly I can so I don't have more escapees etc.
