Boy Or Girl

I've been going back and forth on this one for a while. some days I think boy Other days I think girl Some tell me boy some tell me girl

Born 11-20-09 - I know at this age I shouldn't be wondering any more but not all birds get the Proper cere at a year old some never do , and some just take for ever :)

Also the bird in question has not bonded with any other bird - no preening, no feeding, no nothing .. prefers to be on its own and I have found in my house anyway those are the ones who take longer getting the "adult" cere color

I did sit it up with nest box and all with a known female. they never mated but the Female is the only one who ever went in the box,

But in my house that really doesn't mean anything I have males who mate males, Females Mate females, I even have Females who will mate a male

sometimes I get lucky and the "adult" cere shows up at as young as 2 months old, other times I've had to wait until the bird was near 2 years old for it to change

But here's the best pics I have been able to get - He/She will hold still just refuses to look at me when I have a camera in my hand LOL and always gives me a back shot or a side shot

I cropped them and enlarged them hoping to make it easier to view, But I'll had the link to the original pics as well

1st one is Natural light - no flash

2nd one I can't recall if the flash went off or not but wasnt around natural light he/she was in the cage

It's a boy. Might have a bit of hormone imbalance but a girl at this age would have a completely different cere.

Agreed with nubbly.

I have a hen over a year old and her cere isn't brown...but it looks completely different to this one.

Thats what i thought too but I also have a female who's never had a in condition cere - it stays chalky white on the top and light blue on the bottom , she's never laid an egg, she does sit in the box but she's never mated... she's another one of my "lone" budgies she prefers to be by her self she doesn't bond with any other bird

I'll put him with another girl and see if anything happens maybe he just didn't like the 1st girl lol
