Thanks,

Hi Brendan. Welcome to the forum.

Generally it is better not to mix budgies with finches because the budgies might harm the finches, but occasionally you will find birds that do get along together

Nice to have you here, Brendan.

If you decide to get your budgie a friend, don't forget to quarantine the new one for at least a month. In your case, I would say quarantine is especially important, because of your recent loss. (So sorry you lost your bird. :( ) But there is the possibility that if he had an illness, your hen could also be carrying that illness. Or if she seems unhappy right now, it could be that she is coming down with something. Usually birds hide their illnesses until they are quite progressed, so if she is acting questionable, you might want to check into that.

Hi Brendan. Sorry you lost your other little mate.

Your remaining budgie could well be sick too, or she could be mourning the loss of the other. Do you know why your other budgie died? It may be worth your while to get your hen to a vet (avian of course) in case whatever the first had is contagious, and just to put your mind at ease. It would be up to you to decide whether to get another bird, and sometimes they can mourn for weeks, others get over it in no time.

And as Finnie says quarantine is important for both the new bird and those already in residence. Good luck with your decisions. Only you can make them. :) :) :)

Welcome Brendan, as others have said it might be worth while getting her checked out first before purchasing another budgie.

And if she gets the okay then get her a new mate. I would get a young bird so she can still be the boss and show him the rope's.

I would get a male.

Well i think there just kinda old he was a rescue from about two and a half years ago. He was probably around 10 years old. My last one right now is probably around 7-8.
