Help Me Figure Out What's Wrong?

Hello,

I have two budgies and one of them has been vomiting on and off for a couple of months now. It comes on very suddenly and lasts anywhere between 40 minutes to 3 hours; The most recent one, which occurred yesterday, lasted about an hour and a half.

I thought, at first when he started, that maybe his drinking water was getting dirty or his food was contaminated(this is why he wasn't brought to the vet right away). I changed his food and water more frequently and thought it was helping, because he didn't vomit for about two weeks, but then he did it again. I wanted to take him to the vet, but my mom told me to just wipe down his cage more often, because he had a 'bug' or something... :\

It's been about three weeks since then and, like I said, it happened again yesterday.

I really don't know what to do with him. He'll be visiting the vet as soon as possible, but I thought I might as well see if you guys could come up with something. I've got some pictures here of him. I thought it might be easier for you to see if anything was wrong:

The feathers around his face are still kinda icky from the other day; I cleaned them off as best as I could by myself- he really hates being held...

This is a picture of his poo:

I took the picture about 15 minutes after he made it.

I'm sure that there is something wrong with him. I know that his poo doesn't look right, but other than that he seems to be doing fine.

He's preening himself, flying around, eating, and chatting with his friend.

Nothing seems to be wrong with my other bird, either.

I don't know what else to say, but I'm sure I've left something out, so just ask if you need more info!

Thank you! :3

*I also really don't want people to be mad at me for not taking him to the vet! I really wanted to take him to the vet earlier, but I depend on my mom for transportation. She's not really very close to my birds and while she does like them, she's not real worried about ChiChi, here. So, please, if something is seriously wrong with my bird, don't be upset with me for not taking him into the vet right away- it's not my fault! D':

Chi Chi is not a well budgie at all and it is serious. They cant go on for weeks like this without them either drastically losing bodyweight and dying.

The poos is not normal and show losing fluids. If you pick him up feel the bone running vertically down the front of his chest. Does it feel kinda sharpish to you ? If so he has lost weight.

The vomiting can be either canker or megabacteria and both require the attendance to an avian vet for a cure.

I understand you have to convince your mother, but please see this as urgent and wait no longer.

Other wise you will be digging a grave in a very short space of time. :(

I thought so. His droppings got a bit better later on, they had more shape to them, but...

No, he hasn't lost any sort of weight at all and his bone feels fine.

I was trying to look up stuff about his poo later on in the day and I found something about liver disease?

Does that sound like something he might have?

Here's one site I used, but I'm not sure if it's a good one or not...

http://members.cox.net/~weirdlilfaechild/liverdisease.htm

He seemed to have some symptoms from it, he's a bit lethargic, but he's been like that since we got him, so I thought it was just him. Same with him being a bit cranky.

His beak grows a lot faster than my other bird's, he has terrible coordination(he once flew into a door for no reason), he drinks more water than my other bird, and his droppings seemed to match the picture I found.

Then there's the throwing up and he's always, ever since I got him, ran out of breath very easily.

If he doesn't have liver disease can you think of anything else he might have?

I'm pretty desperate for any info right now, good or bad.

Either way, he will be going to the vet the first thing tomorrow, if I can convince my mom! *crosses fingers*

I wasn't able to get him into the vet today, because he wasn't there, but ChiChi's got an appointment at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. :)

Also, his poo is looking a lot better... I'm still worried, though. :'o

Birds can present similar symptoms to a wide variety of ailments. Without proper clinical evidence it is hard to find a cause and therefore a cure.

The vet didn't seem very concerned about ChiChi's health. He, in fact, said that he seems very healthy. He thinks there's probably something wrong with ChiChi's digestive track and so he's going to let us know later if he finds anything, but all and all, I guess ChiChi's weight and heart and everything is good...

I'm still worried about him. X|
