Posted April 20, 201114 yr This is my latest project, another bank of nine. The bottom three will have slides so they can be used for a stock cage/breeding cage option, the ones above are fixed, just a sand and paint and there done.
April 20, 201114 yr Looks nice PJI , look forward to seeing the finished product. I would like to make the same when I put up my new birdroom. I think I will probably go for the dividers in every bank though. Any reason why you didn't do this ?

This is my previous bank of nine with dividers,i will use this with my best three cock birds over three hens each "well that's" the plan .The new bank of nine will be for feeder pairs only,& the lower three of the new cabinet will be for a stock cage/nursery cage etc. Edited April 20, 201114 yr by PJI

April 25, 201114 yr Author Looking really good Phill. There not as wide as the last bank of nine Julie, this lot work out to be 54cm wide each box,not as wide as i would have liked, but that is all the room i had to work with in the aviary to fill the remaining gap.
April 25, 201114 yr I didn't think they looked as big Phill. They are about the same size as my old ones that I am using this year.Except I hate the wire fronts because I am having trouble getting the nest box on the front of the cages. driving me nuts. I am using 12 old wooden cages, 5 are double cages and 2 single. One set of the double are a lot bigger they have a large wire front on them but cut short. And I have 9 wire cages. so all up 21 cages and one very large baby cage. I am thinking about making new ones after the breeding season, or I might go all wire yet. But I like the box ones better because they are cleaner to use, the wire ones make a real mess, I have just spent the last day or so pulling the wire off the bottom so the birds can pick at the seed, plus a few of them are wasting the seed. I have most of the birds I plan to breed with in the holding cages waiting for them to come into condition and some of them are emptying their seed jars out over night.

I am not using the jam jar feeders this year Julie, instead i am using small terracotta dishes i got from bunnings. There will be eight dishes in each cabinet, i am feeding the seed in separate dishes "no mixed millet" ,french white, red pannicum, jap, cananry, hulled oats, panorama, the other two are for grits.I am saving a small fortune this way ,very little waste.
