Posted April 8, 201114 yr Well I thought I posted this already but I guess not ~ The Mind is a terrible thing to lose LOL ~ So any way when ever I get babies from Ariel its an exciting time she's always hung up side down from her cage top I even bought a cage that they couldn't get to the roof So she took up hanging up side down from perches Very seldom do you see her not hanging up side down - I don't know why she does it She has ever since I got her. But she's teaching the other budgies who can see her to do it too if she keeps it up I'm going to have a very slow baby season with all the birds hanging up side down they can't be doing the "deed" LOL but she had 9 eggs, 6 hatched 3 lived One died and I didn't even know it was ever born I found it buried Under the bedding The 3 surviving I'm hand feeding I pulled them before my normal 3 week age because the younger 2 weren't being fed So i thought it would be best to pull the oldest 2 leave the 3rd and the younger 2, but then baby #5 died(was a girl cinnamon - plum eyes) , so I pulled baby #3 and left Baby #4 for her to just have one to take care of thought just one baby might be easier on her but it died the next day it was ice cold as were the remaining eggs I left to help keep the little one propped up and such But Here are the 3 I am hand feeding they were born Baby #1 March 21st Baby #2 March 23rd Baby#3 March 25th Baby #2 is a female and is cinnamon - I didn't notice the eyes when she was born. But I have came to the conclusion its not just the eyes that tell you if a baby is a cinnamon This is this dads 2nd clutch and and in both cases every cinnamon chick had a light tan "baby beak" (where its normally black) Light pink feet/legs and the skin over all was Lighter than non cinnamon's and the more I think about it and comb through pics of babies I've had in the past that were cinnamon (not from this male) they were all like that as well These pics were taken on April 6th Baby #1 Normal Sky Blue baby #2 Cinnamon Female Baby #3 Normal Sky blue The dad is actually confusing me - well he always has - In certain lights he looks cinnamon other times he looks Normal - I know he carries Cinnamon other wise I'd never get a cinnamon chick from him His 1st time breeding was with a Normal Sky blue female they only had 1 baby - Which was a Normal Sky blue and it was Male his 2nd time breeding was with a Grey Spangle hen They had 4 babies 1 Normal Sky blue (turned out to be male) 2 Grey Cinnamon Females and 1 Grey Cinnamon Spangle Female his 3rd breeding(this time) is with an Albino masking Opaline - out of the 5 babies they had the youngest had plum eyes so if she would of survived she would of been cinnamon then baby #2 is cinnamon and assuming baby 4 was normal His eyes were always black like baby 1 and 3 So that in total would of made 3 boys and 2 girls now i"m thinking if he was just SPLIT to cinnamon I would not be getting this many cinnamon females? here's a couple pics of the dad Zeus (he's on the swing) an older picture This is from the day I got them and Ariel just to show the mom too She is on the swing Edited April 8, 201114 yr by K&M Breeding
