How Old Is Your Longest Lived Budgie?

Featured Replies

Whether you have a companion budgie, aviary budgies or show budgies, I was wondering how old your longest lived budgie ever got to?

I've read that they can live to between 15 to as many as 25 years.

Has anyone ever had one that lived to a grand old age?

I've only had birds since 2007 but so far I have 2 that I know are 4 years old( both are American / Standard Budgies) I have some I don't know their age at all, I also have a group all i can go buy was the ONE who had a leg band who came with the 6 of them He was 5 yrs old in 2007 He died shortly after I got him but I still have 4 (i sold one didn't need 2 sky blue normal hens) they all came from the same person so I'm assuming they were all around 5 years old when I got them which would make them around 9 now and they are all 100% English (Show) budgies and have been bred a few times since I got them in 2007 Plus I have my babies I've kept From past Breeding and they're ages range from a few months old to 4 years old

I've had 2 American budgies die at a little over a year old for no apparent reason They were fine and healthy and playing one minute, and either dead or dying the next

I think with any bird not just budgies, how they're kept , fed, and interacted with helps keep them living great healthy lives too :)

I had a show budgie that was 12.

Boof died September 2009 from a lot of things :(

She had internal bleeding, mites I could get rid of, and I think she had a leg infection from where the vet cut her :( as well as a respiratory infection.

That is why mum and dad don't want to ever take my budgies to the vet. They had to cough up a lot of money and she still died.

They seem to think that a vet wouldn't do anything and still take their money.

RIP Boofer.

I've just noticed this topic. Back in the 80's we had a budgie crash into our window at work. When we couldn't find his owner, my hubbie and I adopted him. I don't know how old he was when we found him but we had him for just over 11 years before he died of a stroke.
