How To Tell If A Spangle Is Also Opaline

Featured Replies

I ran across this site http://www.budgie-in...ine-budgie.html and found it interesting and helped me to determ Opaline's from almost all the other mutations they could have mixed with the Opaline

I know one of my spangles is Opaline but he is very noticeably an Opaline spangle

I have another one I've been trying to figure out since I got him almost 2 years ago I think the reason I'm having so much problem is his color in general

He's a Grey Green Spangle and for the life of me I can't tell if he's Opaline or not, Some days I swear he is by the "V" area looks Opaline then other days I'm like well no maybe he's not - the color is giving me problems because 98% of my Flock are Blue based birds lol

I think the markings of the Spangle also doesn't help me determine when one is Opaline as well as Spangle either. I have No problems telling an Opaline when it's on a Normal non spangle bird even if its Pied I can tell or Cinnamon etc. Just mix in that Spangle and I'm lost

but here's some pictures of him Some from when I first got him When he was still young and some are more recent

So what do y'all think? Opaline along with Spangle or Just spangle?

I've tried to breed him a couple times this past year But he was still young and decided the cage bars Was a better mate then the Females he was with  and he made his beautiful long tail all ratty :( But I'm hoping soon he'll figure out he's not supposed to mate the cage bars but the female he's with he's starting to bond with one of the females in the community cage, which is good he's bonding with the female We got him for to start with LOL and he was put with her a couple times last year but he chose the cage bars over her - she's a Grey Spangle and I'm hoping to get DF Spangles from them if he ever gets his act together lol

Thank you Very much :)

now i don't have to debate with the voices in my head any more LOL

now for him just to get his act together and realize the girl birdies are more fun to play around with than the boring cage bars
