Posted March 4, 201114 yr Just curious wether anyone has ever managed to get chicks to hatch from eggs with twin embyros (as far as im aware its unlikely). I currently have a pair with a egg underneath that cleary has twins in it. Will try to see if i can arrange some pics tomorrow. The egg itself is about twice the size of the others.
March 4, 201114 yr I remember KAZ having raised twins... Would've been around '08 or '09 I think... I'll try and do a search on the forum for you... Actually looks like it was '07... Here's a link to a post about one of them... http://forums.budgie...showtopic=16032 and http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=14683 Edited March 4, 201114 yr by JimmyBanks
March 4, 201114 yr So there is hope yet that your's will hatch and grow up Keep us posted about how things go with yours. Fingers crossed they hatch and both grow up into nice healthy birds for ya.
March 19, 201114 yr Our original breeding hen hatched twins in her second ever clutch. That was March 6 2006. On of them obviously didn't have enough room in the egg and has what i like to call "scolliosis" because his tail is twisted. He's called Wonka (for obvious reasons), but he has lived a happy and healthy life with no problems at all to date. We gave the other twin away. But yes, it definitely can be done, even with an inexperienced hen like ours, we were pretty impressed with her.
