Wondering About Cage

I'm wondering if you can tell me if Dalek's cage is big enough for him please. And if you can suggest anything to make it even better, I am buying him a bird gym through the RSPCA soon so that will be on the outside of his cage so he can play on it when ever he is out, which is nearly every day. At the moment he is sitting on my knee squawking away at me.

This is the side view:

The ladder is there to help Dalek climb up in to his cage when he wants some seed, as he couldn't be bothered jumping up and down (my bird is lazy sometimes. LOL)

Also this is the bird gym I am getting him: http://www.worldforpets.com.au/products/product_detail.asp?ID=4335

Hopefully he will like it and it will give him something other then my lap top to play on. LOL

I would consider that cage small. I think a wide rectangular cage would be better....whats called a flight cage. Look in the cages forum for the article CAGES....RIGHT OR WRONG? The flight cages are 60cms by 41cms by 41cms or 24inches by 16 inches by 16 inches. If you got one like that you could use the smaller cage as transport cage for to and from the vets etc.

If you check out unshun's post about "Found budgie, a little concerned", there's a photo in the 10.03 am post. That's a flight cage that the rescued bird is in. Your little budgie would be much happier in a cage like that.

You can find them online, and they cost between $40 and $70 here in Oz.

I'm in Sydney city, and don't know of any local cheap as chips places.

If anyone knows where I could get a cheapish flight cage in Sydney, let me know. I'd like one for a spare when and if I need to have my budgie babysat or for easier transporting.

The bigger one I've got set up at home is a nightmare to lug around, even when dismantled.

Yeah, i've finally put my foot down and told my mum and dad that I am getting him a bigger cage and that it's for his enjoyment and just because he's a bird doesn't mean he has to be in a small cage.

It was tough! But I think they finally agreed on the grounds of not wanting to be nagged. LOL In the long run I know it is best for Dalek to have more room to move around in. And more room = more toys! :D

The minimum size okay for one budgie is 18" (45cm) square... so considering the one you linked to is a little under two ways, but quite a bit bigger in length, I'd say it will be okay... but see what others say first.

The cage you just posted is exactly the same flight cage I suggested...same size and type

I'm wondering if this cage is okay. I'm going to try and get it this week, but I want to know it's right before I buy it.

okay awesome. Sorry for seeming silly with asking, but i've never been good with measurements and I dind't want to go and buy a cage and then be told it's the wrong one. LOL Now I just hope that they have one.

When you get it take out the perches and cut them to fit front to back on each side of the cage.

okay, I will. :D It can be a dad and daughter wood work project. LOL As I am not good with saws at all.

How many toys do you think it would take? At the moment he only has the two in his cage from above.
