Posted February 23, 201114 yr I have had 2 budgies within my aviary of approx 100 displaying the same sort of symptoms that have died over a period of a year. Fluffed up, unsociable and constantly eating out of the food bowl. Has anyone had the same experience and what could it be?
February 23, 201114 yr Very little to go on there. Has there been any water in the aviary? Were they thin (keelbone able to be felt) when they died? What were their faeces like? Pooey bums? How did you treat them? Did you put them inside under a warm lamp? Did you take them to a vet? Were they regurgitating food? So much we do not know, and even if we knew, only a vet could really disagnose the cause of their deaths
February 23, 201114 yr not to rule out draft and many other things but dave is right i notice your in a club maybe get a member to come over and take a look my mentor always says to me where theirs live stock theirs dead stock as im always stressing
February 23, 201114 yr Purely guessing.......... but looking like they are constantly eating but they actually arent seems to be related to megabacteria. Megabacteria kicks in when other illnesses have knocked out the immune system. Bit like aids taking over a hiv infected person. Important thing when checking your flock isnt to look them in the eye or watch the pretty coloured birds flying about............best thing you can do is look up from under perches and check butts for signs of ill health and nip it in the bud before things take hold. Too many illnesses or signs of illnesses slip under the radar if you dont quite know what to look out for. Edited February 23, 201114 yr by **KAZ**
February 23, 201114 yr I am with Kaz on this, sounds like mega, but as Nubbly said could be any number of things.
