Posted February 6, 201114 yr This is my beautiful little baby budgie that I have named Dalek. I am hoping it is a boy and we've been reading what people have said and are pretty sure he is a boy. He doesn't bite, he's mellow as all heck and he has a purple nose with no white on it. But I just feel like showing him off cause he's my first real pet apart from fish. LOL
February 6, 201114 yr Congratulations! He's cute. I can't tell by the photo, but for your sake I hope he is. Love the name too!
February 6, 201114 yr Author Congratulations! He's cute. I can't tell by the photo, but for your sake I hope he is. Love the name too! Thanks. At the moment i'm sitting here with my laptop set up on my desk in front of his cage and he's happily listening to Fall Out Boy with me. Seems he has good music taste. LOL At the moment he's favourite thing to do in his cage is hang upside down from the roof and get a belly rub.
February 7, 201114 yr Nice budgie looks like a boy love your purple cage one of my favourite colours.
February 7, 201114 yr Author Nice budgie looks like a boy love your purple cage one of my favourite colours. Thanks. It was the last one in the pet shop. LOL I brought it about three weeks before he was ready to come out of the aviary and in to my room. xDD I'm just a little upset as there is no such thing as a purple budgie. because that would be awesome. LOL

He does have stripes all the way down, but the lower ones are just really faint and didn't show up in the picture.

February 13, 201114 yr Author I thought I would post some more recent photos of Dalek to show you all how he is doing and growing up. He's nearing his first moult and I am seeing these as his baby pictures, and like any new mother I am happily flashing them around. LOL So here he is, the slightly more grown up Dalek! Snuggle time, he loves to fly around my room and then land on me. Watching videos on Youtube; He's favourite is Panic! At The Disco videos because there is so much to see. Sitting on my knee and being oh so cute! So that is Dalek, he has settled in happily and now I am working on getting him to eat some more food then just seed. Which is turning out to be a rather hard thing to do. LOL
February 13, 201114 yr He is sooooooo CUTE!!! Tips on mixing his food up. Try serving it in different way. You can get fruit/veggies skewers... so you put slices/pieces of stuff on it. You can also poke stuff though the bars. Try serving fruit/veggies in chunks in a bowl/plate, try grating them and mixing in bowl. To help with the bowl feeding, you can sprinkle seed on the top of the fruit/veggies... that way he picks at the seed and 'hopefully' has a go at the good stuff too! Go for the easy and well liked stuff too... apples (remove all seeds), carrot, corn, peas, leafy greens (bok choy and other dark greens. NOT lettuce/celery etc... as they have no nutrients and are just full of water) Check out this link for more info: FAQ's... diet Just remember to wash everything well, and don't give up. He will get used to them and will end up enjoing them too. Here's another link too: Feeding tips
February 13, 201114 yr Author Thank you so much for the tips. I am going to put some grated carot in with his seed tomorrow when I give him fresh food, so hopefully he will like that. I tried grapes and he nibbled it and then spat it back out on my hand and I was like 'okay... No grapes then...' LOL
