Posted February 6, 201114 yr I have heard a lot of people saying that you need to buy or make a cover for your budgie's cage if you have them inside. I hae just brought Dalek in from the main aviary in to a nice cage in my room. Tonight I have a towel over the cage to make him feel a little safer because the front of our aviary has a tarp over it to stop cats getting on the wire and scaring the budgies. I am wondering if having a cover on the budgie is needed and if so, what kind of things can you use? PS: Sorry if I put this in the wrong section.
February 6, 201114 yr Yes a cover gives them security at night so they don't see lights, shadows and have a night fright which they could injure themselves. Using a a couple sheets is what I do but don't use anything that if they crawl on the side of their cage their nails can snag in like some blankets or towels.
February 6, 201114 yr Author Thanks so much Elly. I'll hunt around the op shops and my mums linnen closet for an old sheet. Don't want him getting hurt because the towel sagged during the night!
