Heat Stroke In Budgies.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys. Do budgies get heat stroke.

My guys were sitting with their wings out today in the 40+C temps and blast furnace wind today.

I brought the ones outside into the air con. 28 was much better.

.

Everything living can suffer because of the heat. I kept misting mine yesterday, and it was greatly appreciated by them.

My youngest dog Tess had a fit in the heat yesterday. Terrifying to watch. I cooled her after, but she was inside and all when it happened.

Everything can be affected. Just do the best you can, and it sound like you did.

Sounds like you blokes have got to move further south down my neck of the woods.

I Havent done anything differtent for mine while this Heat wave was on , Just changed the water everyday as normal.

Havent lost any birds.

Ps. This is a perfrect example of why you should not be breeding at this time of the year,In the warmer areas,

I dont disturb my birds at all on the hot days. I make sure they have plenty of cool water, including water with iceblock so the water doesnt get hot during the day and I leave them alone. They go to ground and get more lively once the day cools.

On the really hot days if there if is no breeze I put the fan on to oscillate in front of the aviaries, and they really appreciate it. If its not too humid I mist them with water. And of course ensure fresh cool water. Some of my budgies like to play in a dish of water or budgie bath as well.
