February 4, 201114 yr Suggestions for length of flights for show budgies is 4 metres with perches up high one end and food the other. Idea so they can build up shoulder and neck muscles in flight I believe My current flights are two of 6 metres by 2 metres. Where we are moving they will have a little less than that
February 4, 201114 yr There are plenty of factors when choosing a size for an avairy. For me as a show breeder i believe 4 m is too long. Modern show budgies are about feather. The old timers talk about shoulder and muscle being developed from long flight areas. The trend in UK and europe over the past 10 years and more recently in Australia is for smaller flight/stock cages for show budgies - ie approx 1mlong x 600mm wide x 600 high But it really depends on range of factors, budgies are extremely adaptability to a range of conditions

February 4, 201114 yr Author hi, i was also wondering what the recommended size for a breeding room is. I was going to ask on my actual question but i forgot. lol I want to fit about 10 breeding cages in my breeding room
February 5, 201114 yr My breeding room is about 3.4m x 2 m . I have 18 cabinets. Flights arent very big espeically for young birds as I dont like flighty birds, young birds scare the older birds and make them nervious, also when you box them for a show you want them to settle , if they come from a big flight they seem to muck around more.
