yesterday we went to the vet he gave us a medicine for budgies but it was for chickens i asked him that it was for chickens but then he said that u can also give it to other birds so can i give that medicines to my budgies it is a powder which is mixed in water

What is the name of the medicine? You can google the name of the medicine and read about it too.

If in doubt all another avian for a second opinion. I don't think he would give you something that would harm your budge.

What illness was your budgies suffering from Osman ? Some illnesses are the same as for chickens like coccidiosis etc. A lot of bird medicines are for all kinds including chickens. The vet adjusts the dosage for the type of birds you have.

Agree with others... we need more information. Please tell us what is wrong with your budgie, what the vet's diagnosis is, what medication they gave you (Full name and specifics), and the dose you are giving. With all that information we 'should' be able to tell you if it's okay or not.

Thanks for that bit but what about the rest? Now we know what you are giving them, but without knowing whats wrong with them and what the vet said, it's pointless. PLEASE give us more information.

I cannot believe this thread is still going, Mate you did the right thing and took your bird to the Vet , You got treatment and you no doubt paid the vet. Why Question his experience on a community forum that has minimal experience with drug usage. If you are worried about the diagnosis then take your birds for a second opinion from another qualified Vet and pay them for your piece of mind.

I cannot believe this thread is still going, We dont shut down topics for no good reason

Why Question his experience on a community forum that has minimal experience with drug usage. We have a great many experts on here re drugs and birds. Fact is Osman doesnt elaborate much in his questions and it makes it hard for us trying to help him

I cannot believe this thread is still going, We dont shut down topics for no good reason ( I meant that the original post was the 21st Jan, there were no replies after your queries , then a reply today 29th , 8 days later , I hoped the bird was being treated in that time, the reply then had some info but as Maesie said it was still vague) I wasnt refering to closing the thread just the time lapse.

Yes there maybe experts, but unless you can see the bird, take samples and do tests you are only guessing when it comes to birds and diagonises on the internet, Im sure you know Kaz. Thats why I said to get a second opinion from another vet in the area for piece of mind. But again who knows 8 days later is a long time for sick birds? Just My opinion.
