What Kind Of Birds Do I Have?

Featured Replies

(To start my camera is of bad qualitiy i have noticed that the breast colour of my female and the breast and face colour of my male are not true to life though everything else seems accurate..i think my camera sucks...)

I have two Budgies, a male and a female to the extent of my knowledge my female is a white base, blue, no grey factor and no dark factor, she has no different colorings, my guess would be a blue normal...i have no idea about genetics or mutations what-so-ever. here are two pics of my female, i realy think her wings look pretty maybe there is somethign special about them let me know :-)

My male is much the same in that he has no dark factor and no grey factor, he is a yellow based green, he hs a patch on the back of his head where there are no bars just yellow feathers, and tough his wings are clipped and sloly growing he has one long just yellow flight feather, the markings on his wings also look a little different fom my female, here are some pics of him.

This one (under this sentence) though small, shows the 'bald spot'as i like to call it though he has all o his feathers :-P

Budgies!

Sorry couldn't help it :)

Looks like a cobalt and a yf mauve dominant pied but the pictures are pretty terrible. They definitely have at least one dark factor between them but I totally agree with no grey factor.

Looks like a hen and you are calling it HE

as a matter of fact they both look like hens and you are calling them males ?

They look like females to me but i cant be sure because of the quality of the photos.

There is no iris ring in the pied Kaz, chance it is a young male? - how old is the bird Azzie-arnold?

I Don't see mauve at all, the pied is a green bird in the pictures.

I agree with cobalt for the first bird.

EDIT - Thanks Ratzy, those pictures in the other thread show clearly the green pied is a boy and the hen is sky blue not cobalt.

This should be merged with the other topic since the photos are so bad on this one. It was confusing.

At my guess my male is about nine months, I've had him for almost three, i know he isn't old enough for breeding yet, one day in the future I hope to breed these birds together. my female is 21 months

If your male is only nine months then why have you put them in a cage with a nestbox ?

I don't exactly have an answer for that except that I attached one to their cage and they pretty much ignore it

No nestbox should ever be where underaged budgies are. Remove it.

Yes remove it.

You will see a better interest in it once your birds have matured and developed a bond together and you reintroduce it at the right time.
